Starting out the New Year sometimes means re-decorating your home so it feels like new. Here are some tips and tricks that will lead to a happier and less stressful for everyone in your home!
- Get a better night’s sleep: Do you have a TV or computer in the bedroom? If so, it needs to go – screens and sleep don’t mix well. And what about exercise equipment? That doesn’t belong in the bedroom either! Everything in your room should contribute to the atmosphere of serenity. Consider natural fiber blinds and an air purifier to make it the best space.
- Lighten up: natural light is the cure for a gloomy mood; so open your window treatments during the day to let in light and sun! Just having fluorescent lighting makes for a dreary interior and can contribute to low-grade stress, so add full spectrum lights to really brighten it up.
- Clear away clutter: Clutter makes it difficult to find things in a hurry and has been associated with a host of negative psychological effects. Living in a cluttered environment can lead to stress, engender feelings of lethargy, shame, hopelessness and loss of control of your life. So don’t wait to have a spring-cleaning and start now!
- Create an in-home retreat: How about a spa-inspired bathroom? Think of different accessories you can add around the room like candles, bubble baths, plants, high quality towels and music to add to the mood. Or make your master bedroom the retreat by upgrading your bed and pillows!
